Pakistan’s YouTube community has seen the rise of many content creators, but few have a story as inspiring as I Am Khaleel. From a small village in Sindh to becoming a household name in the gaming industry, his journey is a testament to resilience, hard work, and determination.
Born on February 10, 1995, in Ghulam Ali Jamali, a village in the Saeedabad Tehsil of Matiari District, Sindh, Khaleel grew up in a middle-class family. He was the second eldest among four siblings, living a relatively stable life. His family initially resided in Islamabad before later moving to Bahria Town, Karachi. He pursued a degree in Electronic Engineering at Iqra University, Karachi, but fate had other plans for him.
Life took a devastating turn on October 11, 2018, when his father—the sole breadwinner of the family—passed away in the ICU of NICVD Hospital, Karachi. Witnessing his father take his last breath was a life-altering moment. Suddenly, the weight of financial responsibility fell on his shoulders. His family struggled to make ends meet, and their circumstances worsened when even close relatives distanced themselves, fearing they might be asked for financial help. Left with no choice, Khaleel had to withdraw his younger brothers from private universities and enroll them in government institutions to cut costs.
Despite these challenges, Khaleel was determined not to let his family suffer. While working a private job, he began exploring opportunities on YouTube, hoping to turn his passion for content creation into a source of income. However, the journey was not easy. For months, he struggled with little to no success, but he remained persistent. His prayers were answered when one of his videos went viral, amassing 30 million views in just a week. It seemed like his breakthrough moment, but soon after, his channel was hit with 21 copyright strikes, leading to its permanent deletion by YouTube.
Most people would have given up at this point, but Khaleel refused to let this setback define him. Starting from scratch once again, he created a new channel, “I Am Khaleel”, and this time, he worked even harder. His efforts paid off when he earned his first YouTube payment of $111, marking the beginning of his success. Over time, his subscriber count grew exponentially, and in 2021, he reached a significant milestone—1 million subscribers, earning his first Golden Play Button.
Today, I Am Khaleel is one of Pakistan’s most well-known gaming influencers. He owns two Golden Play Buttons and three Silver Play Buttons, with his channels attracting millions of views. In addition to his main channel, he runs “Khaleel Plays”, a gaming channel with over 1 million subscribers, and “Khaleel Vlogs”, where he shares lifestyle and behind-the-scenes content. His influence extends beyond YouTube, as he is also a brand ambassador for Roblox, further cementing his position in the gaming industry.
